The Australian Stumpy
Tail Cattle Dog.

The Australian Stumpy Tail Cattle Dog is a remarkable breed known for its exceptional working abilities, loyalty, and distinctive physical characteristics. These dogs have earned a well-deserved reputation for being great companions and highly efficient working partners. Originating here in Australia, they were specifically bred for herding and driving cattle over long distances, which has shaped their unique traits and skills. One of the standout features of Australian Stumpy Tail Cattle Dogs is their natural agility and athleticism. They possess a well-muscled body and a robust build, enabling them to perform various tasks with ease. Their compact size, combined with their powerful legs and agile movements, allows them to navigate rough terrains effortlessly. Whether it’s herding livestock, participating in dog sports, or simply engaging in vigorous play, these dogs possess the physical capabilities to excel.

Beyond their physical prowess, Australian Stumpy Tail Cattle Dogs are renowned for their unwavering loyalty and intelligence. They forge deep bonds with their owners and are incredibly devoted to their families. This breed thrives on human interaction and seeks to please. Their intelligence and eagerness to learn make them highly trainable, enabling them to master complex tasks and commands. Whether it’s obedience training, agility courses, or other dog sports, these dogs demonstrate remarkable adaptability and a quick grasp of commands.

The Stumpy has a sense of humour and will challenge you with their independent thinking. They are, however, not a breed for someone who is not experienced with dogs, as they need a leader, and their person needs to be the one in charge. Otherwise, you will find your life being run by a very clever and bossy dog. If you think a Stumpy is the right fit for you and your lifestyle, you will be rewarded with a fiercely loyal, yet independent dog that is tough, rugged, and protective.

Before You Buy.

  • This appealing little bundle is going to grow into a dog that will stand between 46 to 51 cm at the shoulder.

  • The Stumpy is an individual, a free thinker, independent and very intelligent.  He will need a lot of guidance and training during the formative months to mould his personality into the well-adjusted family member you require.

  • A Stumpy needs exercise on a regular basis and must feel part of the family.  He should be trained properly and fed a good balanced diet.  A Stumpy loves to be beside you all the time.

  • Your gorgeous puppy may BARK, DIG, CHEW, WANDER, CHASE THE CAT, and DIRTY IN THE HOUSE.  He needs your time and patience.  If you don't have sufficient of either of these, don't buy a Stumpy.

  • He needs daily exercise, proper feeding, and needs mental stimulation (being played with, trained, and shown affection).  He needs an enclosed yard and a quiet warm place to sleep, but most of all he needs YOU.

  • Everything you put into a Stumpy he will repay one-hundred-fold.

  • Don't have a Stumpy if you just want a dog to keep in the yard and look pretty!

  • A bored dog is a naughty dog.  Barking, digging, chewing, and roaming are usually symptoms of boredom.
